What would be your recommendation for a Grand Gathering. Three generations, traveling the wk following Thanksgiving. Youngest DS 3yr and oldest grandparent is 63yrs. I want to do something really memorable.

    Hi Jennifer,

A few years ago, my family did the Safari Celebration Dinner.  It was tons of fun, but the thing we liked most is that we felt like VIPs for a little while.  They only take a limited number of reservations each night, so you'll feel like part of a select group.

When you begin your journey, you'll be divided into smaller groups.  Depending on the size of your Grand Gathering, you may have one or two groups traveling with you.  Your guide will take you on Kilimanjaro Safari.  It's the same path that is taken during the day; however, this time your guide will be able to stop so that you can get those great photos that can be so difficult when riding the attraction during regular park hours.

After the safari, you are served an African feast.  Food is served family style, and there are plenty of options for even picky eaters.  There are "animals" out on the patio for you to get a closer look at - usually spiders, snakes, or other small, creepy, crawly creatures.  In the entryway there is a character meet and greet.  When we went we saw Turk from Tarzan and Timon from Lion King.  In addition, there was an African band that provided musical entertainment.  It was interactive, and the children in the group all had an opportunity to get up and dance as well as play African instruments with the band.

Overall, it was a memorable adventure that everyone enjoyed, and I would highly recommend trying it with your party.

Hope this helps.  Have a magical vacation!

Meet the Panelist: Diane, Georgia

After spending 25 years in RI, my husband and I relocated to GA with our youngest, who is now in high school. I took my first trip to Walt Disney World when I was 11 and I have traveled many times since then with all different party sizes. From creating our first itinerary as a honeymooner to later creating magical experiences for our multigenerational family gatherings, every aspect of planning a vacation has been pure joy to me.  Learn More About Diane
