Hi Rebecca,
One of my closest friends has celiac disease, so your question is near and dear to my heart. She described her visit last summer to Walt Disney World Resort as “heavenly”, both because of how much fun she had with her two boys AND because of how many things she was able to eat during her short visit!
Almost every Walt Disney World Resort restaurant has some excellent gluten free options for you that will satisfy the dietary restrictions associated with Celiac, including the ones that serve typically off-limits food such as pizza and pasta. In fact, my friend swears by the gluten free pizza that she had at
Pinocchio’s Village Haus at Magic Kingdom Park (and I quote: “that was the best gluten-free pizza I’ve ever had”).
My advice would be to make a list of the restaurants that appeal most to your family and I’m sure you’ll be able to find something for your child to eat. Most table service restaurants have
special allergy-friendly menus and meal options and select quick service locations also offer allergy-free menus and other meal options that will work for you. Please indicate any dietary requirements or allergies when you arrive at your chosen dining location.
Although I’ve never seen an official list of gluten free options, “unofficial sites” such as Allergy Free Mouse (http://www.allergyfreemouse.com/) and Gluten-Free & Dairy-Free WDW (www.glutenfreedairyfreewdw.com) prepare those kinds of lists. You’ll also find reviews of many Disney dining options, which should help you narrow down your choices.
Have a Magical Day,
Lynne
