Would you recommend the Quick Service Dining Plan if traveling with children ages 7 and 9? In the Unofficial Guide to WDW 2012, most responses seem to feel the menu choices for children are extremely limited (as mac and cheese and chicken nuggets

    Hi Shirley!

Although many locations around the parks do offer more of a homogenous selection with regard to children's meals, I will say that there are several locations that offer healthier, more unique choices and a few that do not offer a children's menu, entitling your child to choose from the regular selections.  Also, please keep in mind that the resort food courts usually carry a wide variety of choices for children.

Disney is making strides to offer healthier choices to children: Soft drinks have been replaced by juice and milk, while carrot sticks and broccoli have made a debut as the main side item.  I have high hopes for advancements in this important area and let me assure you, Disney is "on it." Now, when looking for variety with regard to children's choices, here are a few recommendations:

     Epcot
-Boulangerie Patisserie:  My daughter loves the Hot Ham and Cheese Croissant
-Sunshine Seasons: They offer a Chicken Leg with Broccoli and Mashed Potatoes
-Cantina de San Angel:  Kids order off the regular menu.

    Hollywood Studios
-Toy Story Pizza Planet:  The kids meatball sub and cheese pizza are both very good

    Magic Kingdom
    -Casey's Corner: Yummy oversized hotdogs
-Columbia Harbor House: My daughter likes the Tuna Sandwich

    Animal Kingdom
-Flame Tree BBQ:  Offers a baked Chicken Drumstick on the children's menu

I hope I have answered your question and encourage you to ask any followups you may have!  Here's wishing you a most magical vacation to Walt Disney World!
