Do you recommend any hotels in Vancouver BC that are new the cruise line terminals

    Hiya, Dana!

It seems you are getting ready to go on a Disney cruise to Alaska. I'm so excited for you. The Alaska itineraries are my family's favorite from the Disney Cruise Line.

It just so happens that my family and I disembarked from the amazing Disney Wonder this morning in the beautiful city of Vancouver, British Columbia. Our cruise was a trans-Pacific journey from the Aloha State to Canada. But arriving in Vancouver certainly made us anxious to book our next cruise to Alaska.

Unfortunately, life, AKA "work" and "adulting," got in the way. So we were unable to extend our travel to spend more time in Vancouver during this trip. But as we were riding our Disney transportation from the Canada Place cruise ship terminal to the Vancouver International Airport, we happened to drive past the three hotels that I know Disney Cruise Line recommends for pre-cruise or post-cruise stays in Vancouver. I'll list them here along with a few highlights about them that make them great choices.

    • Fairmont Vancouver Airport
      • Mere steps from the US international terminal of Vancouver International Airport, this hotel is as convenient as they come if you are flying to or from Vancouver. A SkyTrain station is also just a couple of minutes away for easy access to downtown Vancouver, Granville Island, Canada Place, or many other destinations.
    • Fairmont Waterfront
      • This hotel is located just across the street from the cruise ship terminal. It's a stunning high-rise hotel with beautiful views of the harbour and easy access to many great places to eat.
    • Pan Pacific Vancouver Hotel
      • This hotel is the one I recommend. It is connected to the cruise ship terminal. That means embarkation day is as simple as an elevator ride down to the ship. Oh, and definitely order the baked brie from room service. You'll thank me later!

If you'd like, you can call Disney Cruise Line to have them book your hotel stay. Ground transfers may be available too. These hotels are popular and space is limited. So I recommend booking as early as possible.

My family's first-ever cruise was a Disney cruise to Alaska. Since we have a larger family and wanted to all stay in one room that could fit both our family and our budget, we booked a hotel about an hour east of the cruise ship terminal. Of course, there are more elegant and convenient options available, including the three I mentioned above. Though, we did find the drive on the Trans-Canada Highway, including over the iconic Port Mann bridge over the Fraser River a stunning way to start our day when it was time to embark on our cruise. Before our most recent Alaska cruise, we stayed at the Pan Pacific Vancouver Hotel. There are tradeoffs with the different options. But I hope we can stay at the Pan Pacific again for our next cruise from Vancouver.

    Have a magical cruise, Dana!
