Hello there, Karen! Welcome to planDisney!
I love to sail out of
San Diego, especially since it's not far from my Southern California home. We've been fortunate to board a Disney Cruise from San Diego a few times over the years and I'd love to share my recommendation with you.
Wyndham San Diego Bayside is a reasonably-priced hotel that is mere steps away from the cruise terminal. My aunt stayed there overnight and was happy with the accommodations. My family uses the parking facility associated with that hotel when we drive to the port and we have always been happy. There is a comfortable lobby area, a few restaurants nearby that serve breakfast, and an outdoor patio with a seating area that makes the perfect spot to sit and marvel at your Disney Cruise Line ship.
You'll enjoy a short walk across the street when your Port Arrival Time opens. You'll drop your luggage with the porters at the terminal and enter the queue for security and check-in. I find it quite convenient. The hotel even has an airport shuttle if you'll be flying in for your cruise.
I hope that the night before your sailing is a relaxing one because there will be so much fun and adventure waiting for you onboard the
Disney Magic. Your
Very Merrytime Panama Canal Cruise will be filled with opportunities to make special memories! Keep an eye out on the
Disney Cruise Line Navigator app once you are onboard for special holiday-themed activities. My family really enjoyed decorating gingerbread cookies and taking photos with our favorite Disney Characters in their holiday best!
If you have any further questions, please sail back to us here at planDisney. My pals and I are always happy to help however we can.
Happy Planning,
Adrianna
