Greetings, MD, and welcome to planDisney! I have great news for you – there are so many ways you can have fun with a two-year-old at the Disneyland Resort! As a mom of two little ones, I'm happy to share some of my favorite recommendations.
Start by using the
Disney Genie service in the
Disneyland mobile app – it will create an itinerary based on the attractions, entertainment, and dining experiences that interest you. When my kids were two years old, they loved "it's a small world," Jungle Cruise, Dumbo the Flying Elephant, Peter Pan's Flight, Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters, and others.
You should definitely add
Mickey's Toontown to your list – it's an amazing place for little Mouseketeers! It was designed for kids to explore, featuring interactive elements and areas to walk through, including Mickey's House and Minnie's House. Goofy's How-To-Play Yard is another great spot, and I think your two-year-old will like the colorful roller slides!
Mickey & Minnie's Runaway Railway is a "must-do" attraction in the area, too.
And, of course, you'll want to leave time in the day to meet Disney Characters. There are designated locations where you can go,
Character Dining experiences, and other magical encounters across the Resort! If your little one is a little nervous, you're welcome to approach the Characters with them. My kids like to bring an autograph book to collect signatures.
Although California Adventure has fewer attractions for little ones compared to Disneyland, it still offers some fun experiences for young families! Avengers Campus is a great spot to meet heroes, and Cars Land is really immersive. The Disney Theater typically has a high-energy, interactive show for little ones, and Turtle Talk with Crush inside the Animation Academy Building is a blast. My nephew, who is almost two years old, loves to ride the Golden Zephyr, carousel, and Ariel's Undersea Adventure.
Here are a few more tips, from one mom to another:
- Take lots of breaks to snack or rest. There are areas such as Bayou Country and the path behind Grizzly River Run that are a little quieter. Certain attractions, like the Mark Twain Riverboat and Disneyland Railroad, are great for resting, too.
- There is a Baby Care Center in each park that has toddler-size toilets, changing tables, and a vending machine with essentials available to purchase.
- You can bring a stroller that fits within the size guidelines, but strollers may be rented, too.
- Use the Disneyland mobile app or visit the Disneyland website to filter attractions by age, thrill level, and height requirement. And don’t skip mobile food ordering – that will save you time since you won't have to wait in line to order your food.
MD, I hope this information has sprinkled some pixie dust on your plans! If you have any other questions as your special visit approaches, please reach out. We're always happy to help here at planDisney!
Your pal,
Kriss
