What do you recommend? Driving our own car from resort (POFQ) to parks, or using the Disney transportation? We are taking our first trip to Disney in February and have a lot of ADR; don't want to be late! My kids are 10 and 4 and super excited!

    Hi Amy!

It sounds like you have a great Walt Disney World vacation planned!  It's no wonder that your kids are so excited and I bet that you are too!

I have rented a car on my last three trips to Walt Disney World and I can tell you from experience that driving a car to the Parks and Resorts for Advanced Dining Reservations is the quickest mode of transportation around Walt Disney World with one exception.  The exception is when you are traveling from a non Monorail Resort to the Magic Kingdom.

Here is an example why using Disney's Transportation is quicker than driving to the Magic Kingdom: from the Port Orleans French Quarter you would have to drive your vehicle to the Ticket and Transportation Center (the TTC), park your car, take a tram to the Monorail or Ferry Boat Station, and then ride the Monorail or Ferry Boat to the Magic Kingdom gates.  This process could add about 20 to 30 minutes to you travel time which already is about 20-25 min.  However if you take the Disney Bus from Port Orleans French Quarter to the Magic Kingdom, you will arrive at the gates of Magic Kingdom in around 20-25 minutes.  If you are staying in one of the Monorail Resorts it is faster just to take the Monorail to the Magic Kingdom instead of driving.

I hope that you have some magical travels during your stay at Walt Disney World!

    Keep Dreaming Big!
