Hi Astrid! Welcome back to planDisney!
Your return visit to the Walt Disney World Resort is only TWO days away! It sounds like you are staying at a
Disney Resorts Collection hotel and I'm thrilled to hear that! There is nothing quite like the feeling of staying in the middle of the magic. What a fun vacation you have ahead of you!
I think driving versus flying to Walt Disney World mostly comes down to personal preference. We have done both and our whole family agrees ... we are a flying family! I do have a few points for each that may help sway you one way or the other, though.
Guests of the Disney Resorts Collection hotels do have a
nightly parking fee (unless you are a Disney Vacation Club Member), so you will want to budget for that. However, Guests of these hotels receive
complimentary parking at the theme parks, so you won't end up paying for parking twice. On my visits, the parking lot trams have
not been operating, so you will need to walk from your car to the entrance of the theme park.
If you are staying at a resort that doesn't have any alternate
modes of transportation (boat, monorail, or Disney Skyliner) or a direct walking path, and you will be relying solely on buses, you may experience long wait times for buses. We avoided this by getting to the bus stop extra early or by using a ride-sharing service instead. You could also consider renting a car when you arrive at the airport to lessen your travel time but have the benefit of your own car. I know ... so many options and things to consider!
Ultimately, my family will continue flying and using the complimentary transportation options at our happy place because it works best for us. With a little bit of planning and some early mornings, we always seem to cut back on those long lines!
I hope this helps, Astrid! Please let us know if you have any other questions.
