Hello there, Erin, and welcome to planDisney!
You are already well on your way to the most amazing vacation with your family. A Capture Your Moment photo session is a great choice for kicking off your family’s Disney adventure. And I’m just your gal to share exactly what to expect from this fun, customizable experience.
My family’s first
Capture Your Moment session at Magic Kingdom was well worth it. I think that a private photo shoot would be the practically perfect way to celebrate your little Mouseketeer’s first Disney World visit. I like to plan our sessions for the first full day of vacay in order to check it off the list before our hair gets messy or our shoes get dirty from having too much fun throughout the week.
Book the earliest time slot on photo shoot day to give yourself more flexibility before breakfast and attractions—and to take advantage of the morning lighting. Before your session starts, let your Capture Your Moment photographer know that it’s a momentous occasion (a first time Disney visit is a huge deal). Also, tell them if there are specific locations around the park that you’d like to immerse yourselves in for the shoot. For example, Main Street U.S.A., Liberty Square, and Fantasyland are three popular choices among Disney guests.
AN EXTRA GEM: Consider booking two back-to-back photo sessions to optimize your time with the photographer. While it’s not necessary to do this, I found it nice to take my time walking through the park with my young children and it gave us the opportunity to do a quick outfit change. This might be a good idea if you have multiple locations in mind for the shoot or if you want more wiggle room with a little one in tow.
As for breakfast, I highly recommend booking the
Crystal Palace if you’re looking for character dining inside Magic Kingdom. This restaurant is easily in my top 5 Disney restaurants to visit with my family, mostly because of the Mickey-shaped churro waffles! You’ll also find character dining options at the nearby Disney World hotels around the Seven Seas Lagoon.
‘Ohana at the Polynesian is fun for Lilo & Stitch fans,
Chef Mickey’s at the Contemporary is a good choice for first-timers to meet classic characters, and
1900 Park Fare at the Grand Floridian is great for princess lovers.
Erin, I have a feeling that your 4-year-old’s first visit to The Most Magical Place on Earth will be nothing short of memorable. If you have additional Disney vacation planning questions before, during, or after your trip, please revisit us

Magic always,
