Hi. I recently purchased park tickets for 3 days in November. One of the family members from the family that we are going with just found out that he has to have cancer treatments and we will not be able to go any more. Is there a refund option?

Hey Howdy Hey Melissa and welcome to planDisney!

I am so very sorry to hear about the health of one of your party members and how this will affect your trip in November. Let's jump into the specifics of your ticket purchase and hopefully we can get something rolling that may help your situation.

As far as the specifics go when it comes to the purchase of theme park tickets for Walt Disney World, per the terms and conditions of these purchases, they are nonrefundable purchases. Considering your situation, I would call Disney and explain the life-altering situation to them. They may be able to make a special exception but if not we need to get you prepared in the case they cannot.

The other option that you would have is the fact that you can move the dates of unused tickets to a date in the future. You are also able to reassign the tickets to whomever you would like that you are connected with through your My Disney Experience account.

First, if you wanted to reassign the ticket you can do this through your My Disney Experience account. After you log on, scroll to the "My Plans, Reservations and Tickets" section and look for the heading "Tickets & Memory Maker" which you will click on. There, you should see all the tickets associated with your account as well as the members they are assigned to. To the right of the tickets, you should see a drop-down menu where you can reassign the tickets to members of your party you are linked with.

On the same menu, "Tickets & Memory Maker", you will also have the ability to change the date of your ticket. You should see a link on the bottom of each ticket's information that says "Change Ticket". If you click on that link, you should have the ability to change the date of the ticket. Just know that tickets are priced specifically for dates and seasons so if the date you want is more expensive than what you originally paid for the ticket, you will be responsible for the difference.

I hope one of these options works out for you and I hope for the best for your family member undergoing treatment. If you have any further questions please feel free to reach out and we will be happy to help!

    Have a Magical Day,

    Nick
