Hi moms! I recently got into pin trading (probably more of pin collecting) and I was just wondering how one tells the difference between a regular pin and a limited edition pin? I have searched online and have been unable to find any information! Thank you

Hello Carla, and thanks for stopping by the Disney Parks Moms Panel with a great question.

Welcome to the world of pin trading. I have been collecting pins for about 15 years and have discovered they fall into several categories. First, there are “Limited Release” pins. These are sold only during special events. In fact, I picked up 2 new limited release pins to add to my collection. One from the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival and the other during Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. These pins can only be purchased if you attend these special events during the season they are offered. You will see the words “Limited Release” stamped on the back of these pins.

Some of the most cherished pins in my collection are “Limited Edition” pins. They hold special places in my heart because only a limited number of these pins were made. The very first pin I purchased was a limited edition holiday pin from Disney’s Contemporary Resort Hotel. It was stamped on the back that it was 1 of 1000 pins. I have several that are 1 of 2500 edition and 1 of 5000 edition runs.

All other pins will have the official Disney Pin Trading logo and usually the year they were issued but do not have any other information. Disney's Pin Traders at Disney Springs is one of my favorite shops. If you are a Walt Disney World Annual Passholder or Disney Visa Cardholder, you may find some exclusive pins available to you. These pins will not be on display so you will need to ask a Cast Member if they are available to purchase. Keep in mind that Limited Release, Limited Edition, Passholder, and Cardmember exclusive pins can only be purchased at the Walt Disney World Resort and are not available from online or the Shop Disney Parks Mobile App.

    See ya real soon,
