Hi there, Samantha! Welcome back to planDisney.
I like the way you think. Here at planDisney, we love creative ways to get excited for upcoming visits, and I know if I received a MagicBand as an Easter gift, I would be so, so
hop-py and
egg-cited! How fun!
In my experience,
MagicBands ordered as part of a Walt Disney World Resort hotel reservation ship about a month to 10 days in advance of your arrival date, depending on when you place your order. It’s usually a sign that our Disney vacation is right around the corner when that magic mail arrives on our doorstep.
On the Walt Disney World Resort website, they note that MagicBand fulfillment and shipping takes about 11 days, and that you should allow time for any delays with USPS. Having said that, I can’t ever remember getting MagicBands more than a month before my visit, so I think they may mean it takes approximately 11 days from when they process the order and send you a shipping notice.
I know that’s not what you wanted to hear, so I have some ideas for you. I have surprised my Mouseketeers with a couple of Walt Disney World trips, and even if you can’t tuck MagicBands into their Easter baskets, there are lots of fun ways to share the good news and excitement. What if you got a Disney-themed Easter basket and filled it with dollar store Disney goodies? We did this and filled Halloween pumpkins with glow bracelets, Disney stickers, a plush, a pair of Minnie Ears or a fun t-shirt -and, of course, candy. My kids loved digging through their baskets and it was priceless seeing the looks on their faces as they realized what was happening. If you ordered a special design, you could even print a picture of that out and add it to the basket, or create a letter or card with the photo and a cute poem. You could even make it into an invitation, signed by Mickey himself (you can find his signature with a quick internet search). I’m also imagining how cute it would be if you spelled out “we’re going to Disney World” in foil-wrapped chocolate eggs.
If you have your heart set on MagicBands, you could also order another set on
ShopDisney. Then, you could cancel your Disney MagicBand reservation and link the ShopDisney bands to your
My Disney Experience accounts when they arrive, or you could keep both and have MagicBands to coordinate with multiple outfits.
Have so much fun with your Easter Disney dreaming, Samantha. We have lots of ideas for creative trip countdowns and ways to get your kiddos involved in the planning on our
Panel Extras page – stop by if you’re looking for inspiration or ideas. And, of course, we’re just a bunny hop away if you have any more questions as you plan for your visit this summer.
Wishing you a magical day, and a magical vacation,
Robyn
