Until recently, I used a MagicBand I received in 2019 for all Walt Disney World visits. I love the hands-free convenience of using a MagicBand to redeem
theme park admission, charge purchases, link
Disney PhotoPass images, and unlock my resort room. Sure, I can use my phone and
Disney MagicMobile, but I really prefer to tap my wrist and go. I felt like Sadness from
Inside Out when I misplaced my beloved MagicBand in January, so I ordered my first MagicBand+ for a February trip.
Alisha, I also needed to run the update when I attempted to pair a new MagicBand+ with my mobile device. Even after updating, I saw the same message on the
My Disney Experience mobile app that you're seeing. I had to tap the update button again to finalize the pairing. If, after two attempts, you're still seeing the update message, I recommend visiting Guest Relations or the front desk of your resort upon check-in, where an onsite Cast Member can assist you.
I hope this is helpful! I have one last quick tip about MagicBand+. If you forget to charge it during your vacation, Hakuna Matata! No worries; wear it anyway. You can still use it without a charge to enter the theme parks, charge purchases, link photos, and enter your resort room. You'll only miss out on interactive elements in the theme parks.
