I recently heard that there have been changes as to what is considered a snack on the Dining Plan. We are coming in February 2016 and really want to take advantage of what is offered instead of coming home with a lot of packaged cookies!

    Hi Lisa!

I think you'll be pleasantly surprised at what is considered a snack on the Disney Dining Plan. Eating at Walt Disney World is my favorite activity, and I could literally snack all day. Most of the Disney favorites are still considered snacks, like a Dole Whip, Mickey's Premium Ice Cream Bar, and Carrot Cake Cookie. In fact, there is more flexibility now, so you can choose how you want your snack credits to work for you.

The Disney Food Blog notes that items now considered snacks include any soup, ice cream novelties, two scoops or less of hand-scooped ice cream (but no souvenir containers), any menu item listed as a side, and any single-serving, non-alcoholic beverages (no souvenir cups) at quick-service locations. You can even utilize a single snack credit for breakfast items such as cereal, French toast sticks, grits, oatmeal (or quinoa), a side of bacon, sausage, potatoes, or eggs.

My personal go-to snacks are the Butterfinger Cupcake at Starring Rolls Cafe in Disney's Hollywood Studios, the Rainbow Kakigori (shaved ice) at Kabuki Cafe in the Japan Pavilion in Epcot, and anything at Karamell-Küche in Germany in Epcot's World Showcase. Every single trip.

So, not to worry, Lisa, you will have plenty of snacks to feast on. The only problem will be finding room in your stomach for all the delicious food. I often feel like Winnie the Pooh and his Honey Pot - I'm always going back for more. And if you do happen to have left-over snack credits..Mickey Krispy Treats are a practically perfect take-home treat. I found one in my diaper bag two weeks after our last vacation, and finding it was like Christmas! A sweet reminder of a magical vacation.

If you have any other questions, please come back and see us real soon at the Disney Parks Moms Panel. Happy snacking!
