I recently found out we can’t have loose ice in our cooler. I’ve read that we can have a small bag of ice. What size is small? Would a 2.5 gallon be too big?

    Hi Meghan,

Woo-hoo! I see your Walt Disney World Resort vacation is just a few weeks away! You’re counting down the weeks and getting ready to be right in the middle of the magic, and I’m so happy for you and your family.

As my pal Olaf sings “put me in summer and I’ll be a…happy snowman!” Since you don’t have your own personal flurry, I’m glad you’re thinking ahead so you can sing “just imagine how much cooler I’ll be in summer!” You’re right that loose ice is no longer permitted in coolers, and there is no specification on the size of the bag to hold your ice, as long as it fits inside a cooler that is no larger than 25” long by 15” wide by 18” high. I recommend checking the Walt Disney World Resort Property Rules so you’re familiar with what items are permissible in the theme parks. You’ll be able to stop by any Counter Service dining location for a complimentary cup of ice water throughout your day; we usually bring refillable water bottles and fill up with icy cold water.

My fellow Moms Panelists recently shared some of their best tips for beating the heat during a summer visit to Walt Disney World Resort, and I hope you find those helpful as you plan your days. If you want to find out “whatever snow does in summer,” be sure to stop by and meet Olaf at Celebrity Spotlight in Disney's Hollywood Studios! Just don’t tell him about your ice, since I don’t think he wants to find out what happens to solid water when it gets warm!

Here’s to having a drink in your hand and a fun and relaxing Disney summer vacation in just a matter of weeks. I’m SNOW excited for you!

    Wishing you a magical vacation,
    Robyn
