Hey there, hi there, ho there, Sophia! You're as welcome as can be here at
planDisney! Thank you so, so much for stopping by with your question.
First things first, happy eighteenth birthday to you! Oh my gosh, you must be so excited about spending one of the best milestone birthdays at the Happiest Place on Earth. I happen to be a pro when it comes to celebrating birthdays at the Disney Parks. I've spent every single one of them at either
Disneyland Resort or Walt Disney World Resort since I turned six in 2002, so you came to the right person.
Sophia, the thing about turning eighteen is that, sure enough, we might not have access to government-issued IDs immediately. You could technically present your passport, but even if you were born in California, it probably doesn't state that you're from Southern California specifically. Since yours is a very unique case, I went ahead and spoke with a very friendly Cast Member who told me that all adults, regardless of age, definitely do need to present a valid, government-issued photo ID that states that they live in Southern California in order to take advantage of this particular offer. I'm sorry I don't have better news for you!
Having said that, I'm happy to say that there is still a light at the end of the tunnel for you, Sophia! Your
SoCal Resident ticket dates can still be modified, as long as you use it before May 15. Depending on when your birthday actually takes place, you still have more than enough time to get your valid California drivers license. When you're finally able to head to the Theme Parks to celebrate, make sure to ask a Cast Member for a complimentary birthday button. It doesn't have to be your actual birthday in order to wear one! Plus, if you do this, you'll technically get to celebrate your birthday twice in a single year. How cool is that?!
I hope your birthday is as magical as you expect it to be, Sophia. May all your birthday wishes come true! If you have any other questions, you know where to find us. We're always available and more than happy to help!
Warm birthday hugs,
Ana Paula
