Bright suns, Anne. Thanks for stopping by planDisney with your excellent question. My son and I were at Star Wars Nite just last night, so I feel the force is strong with me as I answer your costume question.
Based on your question, it sounds like you've already read the Disneyland
dressing for special event guidelines. That's great! I will say that the costuming guidelines for
Disneyland After Dark events, such as
Star Wars Nite and Oogie Boogie Bash, tend to be more flexible for adults. However, the final say lies with the Cast Members at the security screening point. I saw quite a few longer capes and dresses last night, and adult Jedi capes are even sold at the Disneyland Resort in Galaxy's Edge. The biggest concern is that the cape does not drag on the ground. I have heard of Cast Members asking Guests to pin up or alter their costumes to ensure their safety and that of others. So, Anne, while I think your Padmé cape is likely okay, please keep this in mind and have a plan B (or quick alteration plan) in place.
Anne, during the event, the
Disneyland Mobile App was an awesome tool for mobile ordering food (I recommend placing orders right as the event begins for later pickup), locating the nearest Jedi and Sith sightings, and finding the evening's entertainment times. Using the resort map in the app, you can toggle between "Attractions" and "Characters" to see how long the wait for Hyperspace Mountain is and when the next viewing of Emperor Palpatine or Queen Amidala starts. I'm sure you are anxious to see Queen Amidala, so I want to let you know that, as of last night, she was greeting at the Royal Theatre right to the left of Sleeping Beauty Castle. It was one of the highlights for my son and me!
Anne, I hope this helps answer your question. Please
jump to lightspeed back to planDisney if you have any other questions. We'd be honored to help!
May the Force Be With You,
Melissa
