John from CA Asked Please note that experiences, policies, pricing and other offerings are subject to change and may have changed since the date of this answer.

I recently bought an annual pass and was wondering why I cannot book a reservation for the 21st of January. I did notice I can but a ticket for those days and I bought the top tier pass. Just curious not angry. Thank you for the info.

Greetings, John! Welcome to planDisney and thanks for thinking of us for your questions.

I see that you were hoping to visit Disneyland Resort on January 21 and I'm sorry we didn't get you an answer in advance of this date, but I have some recommendations that might be helpful to you in the future!

First, let me welcome you to Magic Key Passholder family! How exciting to have a whole year of wonder and magic ahead of you!
It sounds like you purchased the Inspire Key which certainly offers the most flexibility with the fewest blockout dates on the Magic Key Availability Calendar. As you know, all Magic Key Passholders must make park reservations for the dates they wish to visit the Disneyland Theme Parks, and these park reservations are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Occasionally, that means that all park reservations for very popular days like weekends and holidays may be swept up which will often appear on the availability calendar with the symbol indicating "No Magic Key Reservations Available."

However, I have a couple of suggestions for you, John, as you think about making future park reservations. First, don't give up if you aren't able to secure a park reservation on a date you have in mind. Guests will frequently change their plans or cancel their currently held park reservations which may free up availability in the park reservation system. Secondly, your Inspire Key allows you to hold up to 6 park reservations at a time, so you can select the future dates that work best for you, subject to reservation availability. Again, my experience is that weekends and holidays tend to fill up the fastest, so I often try to prioritize those time periods if they happen to align with my visit plans. And don't worry if your plans change; the No-Show Policy allows you to cancel a park reservation by 11:59 p.m. PT on the day before your reserved date with no penalty.

John, I hope these few tips will help you maximize your Magic Key experiences throughout the upcoming year. You've chosen an absolutely fantastic year to be a Magic Key Passholder because 2023 represents the 100th anniversary of the Walt Disney Company and the Disney100 Celebration - Where Wonder Comes to Life! If we can offer any more personalized advice or suggestions, please don't hesitate to reach back out to us here at planDisney!

    Wishing you a Wondrous Journey!
