Hiya Heather - welcome back to
planDisney!
I see that my fellow panelists have provided you with some great advice on planning your upcoming holiday adventure to
Walt Disney World Resort. I'm happy to hopefully continue that trend here!
Eating is usually a big part of any visit to Walt Disney World Resort, so I can completely understand wanting to get a plan together now, before your big trip! First and foremost, I recommend contacting the
Special Diets Team via
email to see what accommodations, if any, you may need help with during your visit.
Beyond that, I can tell you that a great way to eat less is to utilize the Kid's Menus at Table Service restaurants. I've had no trouble ordering these smaller portions, so I think this is a good option for you. At some locations, you may also be able to order smaller portions of certain items. For example, I recently had a great breakfast at
Ale & Compass Restaurant at
Disney's Yacht Club Resort. I was torn between multiple entrées but my server let me know that I was able to order a single Dark Chocolate Waffle as a side instead of a full-size order!
Buffets are a different story, and that's where Cast Members at the restaurant or the Special Diets Team may be able to help you. I know that for some dietary restrictions based on ingredients (rather than amount), the chefs at buffet dining locations are able to provide Guests with special meals to meet their needs. In my two experiences, the Guests in our party were still charged the standard adult buffet price. Again, your mileage may vary, and starting a conversation with the Special Diets Team will be a great way to learn more about your options so you don't have to worry about this during your trip!
I hope this information was helpful -
stop by with more questions any time, Heather!
