I just recently had a baby, he is 3 months old. I grew up with yearly trips to WDW and I can't wait to take him. What is a recommended age that I can start planning a vacation for us?

    Hi Jessica,

Congratulations on the birth of your child!  I think it is wonderful that your memories of childhood vacations to Walt Disney World were so magical you want to continue the tradition with your own family.  I don't believe that there is a magic age to take your child on their first visit.  For every family the answer will be different, and a lot depends on whether you plan/hope to take yearly vacations...or if this will be a "once in a lifetime" opportunity for your family.

If you feel that this may be a one time vacation, I suggest waiting until the child is at least 5.  This would put them in a great age range to still appreciate all that is available for the younger set, as well as be tall enough to experience the bigger attractions.

Now if you plan on visiting yearly, I would suggest taking your first family vacation when your child is 12 - 18 months of age.  We took our oldest just after her first birthday, the memories are priceless!  Although she doesn't remember it, we do...and she loves looking at the old albums and videos of this trip.   I suggest at least a year simply because they will more than likely be walking, and eating table food which will be extremely helpful and make exploring a bit easier.  If possible I would consider visiting in the cooler months, the summer heat can be tough on little ones!

Hope this helps, good luck with your planning!
