Hi Tommy and welcome back to planDisney! I remember your previous question about transferring your Disney Vacation Club points (again, what a great friend you are for offering that!). Because those points have already been banked, they cannot be banked again prior to transfer. So, those points will expire this June. Also as mentioned previously, those DVC points will retain the same properties when they are transferred to the other DVC member.
Tommy, if you’re looking to extend the life of your DVC points, I’ve got some great news! You have the ability to deposit your points with
Interval International to extend the life of your points by 2 years from the date of deposit. If you’re unfamiliar with Interval International, it is an exchange opportunity DVC members have that gives you access to thousands of different vacation accommodations both domestic and abroad. DVC members can make reservations for as little as 1 night and up to 7 consecutive nights through Interval International. As long as you deposit your points 45 days before your Use Year ends, you can make a future reservation with Interval International. Be sure to check out the
Interval International Buyers’ Guide made available for DVC members for more information, such as terms and conditions, as well as some sample point charts.
In addition, don’t forget that you can also exchange your DVC points towards the worldwide
Disney Collection (which includes hotels at some of the international Disney theme parks), a
Disney Cruise, or an
Adventures by Disney experience. Just note that there may be a transaction fee associated with these types of bookings and that only members eligible for
Membership Extras can take advantage of this benefit.
Tommy, I hope this clarifies things for you regarding use of your DVC points. Should you have any additional questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to me and my fellow panelists here at
planDisney!
Your pal,
Sean
