Heigh-Ho, Heigh-Ho, Denise!
Welcome back to planDisney. I am excited that you have written back as I have found a bit more information that will help you with your
Disney Contemporary Cabana reservation. Like you, our family loves the comfort and convenience of the poolside or water park cabanas. If we aren't flippin' our fins in the pools or riding the waterslides at
Disney Waterparks, we love resting comfortably in the shade of these luxurious sanctuaries.
Denise, I did a bit more digging for the treasure that you seek. You are correct, the poolside cabanas have a
maximum capacity of six people. For future reference, some of the newer cabanas at Disney Waterparks are now fitting eight people, but the poolside ones like those at
Disney's Contemporary Resort have a maximum capacity of six people.
It doesn't matter how many people are on your Disney reservation, as long as there are a maximum of six inside the cabana. Now, if you have any children under age three in your party, they do not count in these six. Only Guests aged three and up count in the cabana capacity limit. So if you have Guests who are not planning to visit the pool with you who are on your reservation, you should be good to go. If you have more than six Guests planning to be at the pool, then you would want to reserve two cabanas.
It's not uncommon for larger parties like yours to go different ways during their Disney vacation. Many families do this so everyone can experience Disney magic in their own way, and then regroup at another time. Cast Members understand this and in fact, the super helpful Cast Member I spoke with, who takes cabana reservations, shared that her own extended family may be on one reservation, but they don't all necessarily do the same activities at the same time together.
She confirmed that you should be able to make the cabana reservation with no problems if only six people will be in the cabana on the day of your visit. When you go to check in for your cabana at the pool, the Cast Member will check your ID, confirm you have only six Guests, and then walk you to your relaxing oasis. They will not limit you from making your cabana reservation based on the Guests on your Resort reservation, but they will make sure once you check in that there are only six Guests in the cabana when you check-in.
One last little gem, Denise. Remember, that you may be eligible for a
Disney Vacation Club discount on your pool cabana reservation so be sure and tell them you are a
DVC Member when you make your reservation.
I hope this helps you, Denise, and I hope you enjoy a relaxing pool day during your Walt Disney World Resort vacation. It's a great way to rest and restore so you can be ready to maximize the magic of your vacation. If you have more questions, Denise,
stop back and see me and I will be so happy to help you out.
Off to work I go,
Keri
