Hi Jessica,
Thanks for coming back to planDisney with a follow-up question about the Coronado Springs Resort, which is my family's go-to for the holidays, our birthday and anniversary retreats or almost anytime we feel the need for a little Walt Disney World magic.
Since we are somewhat local (about 90 minutes away) and visit several times a year for the weekend and for the Christmas holidays, we are usually looking to maximize our value. We love
Coronado Springs because it is reasonably priced, often just a little more than the value resorts, and has a wide range of dining options and some of our favorite lounges. We definitely feel like we get deluxe amenities at a moderate cost.
Our regular spot in the resort is in the Casitas section, specifically a water view, ground floor room in Building 4. We like that this building or Building 5 are a little removed from the convention center area and food court, so they are pretty quiet. But these buildings are a short distance from
Three Bridges Bar & Grill and only a 5-minute walk to
El Mercado de Coronado.
Barcelona Lounge in Gran Destino Tower is just a couple of minutes farther, and it has some of my favorite coffee in the morning and adult beverages in the evening.
The Casita Village quiet pool is next to Building 4, and we've never had a problem finding a shady table or chair there. The main pool, The Dig Site, and its Siesta Cantina also are about a 5-minute walk.
We like that there is a bus stop directly behind Building 4, so we never have far to go to catch a ride to one of the theme parks. And, if you are driving, there's always ample parking on that side of the resort.
We've spent the last five Christmases in Casita Building 4, so we are definitely creatures of habit. Everyone's preferences vary, of course, but for my family, this area of Coronado Springs is "home."
I hope that's helpful, Jessica. Please check back with us any time you have questions. We're all delighted to share our recommendations, which are based on our personal experiences as long-time Disney guests.
Happy planning,
Wilma
