Matthew from SC Asked Please note that experiences, policies, pricing and other offerings are subject to change and may have changed since the date of this answer.

I recently applied and was approved for the Disney Visa. My question is, do you have to pay for your vacation package in full using the card to get the discount offered, or can you just pay deposit with the card and pay on the trip using other means?

Hiya Matthew! Welcome to planDisney! It's always great to chat with a fellow Palmetto State resident!

Congratulations on being approved for a Disney Visa Card! There are a ton of perks and benefits to being a member, including several discounts at dining and merchandise locations around the parks and resorts. You'll also start earning reward dollars for purchases made, which can be used as payment for a variety of different options!

There are many new offers that are available to a new cardholder, so it will depend on which one you are referring to. The Disney Premier Visa Card is offering a $300 statement credit after spending $1,000 in the first three months of the account opening. The Disney Visa Card is offering a $150 statement credit after spending $500 in the first three months of the account opening. For this deal, you'll just need to spend the appropriate amount on your new card to receive the statement credit. I would start with the deposit and then make an additional payment or two to get you to the number needed. Then, you can use any form of payment for the rest of your vacation package.

There is also a 0% promo APR for 6 months on select Disney vacation packages from the date of purchase that is available to cardholders. I believe for this perk you'll need to put the entire cost onto the card, but I suggest reading the terms and conditions to confirm this.

Matthew, I recently became a cardholder myself and have experienced many discounts and perks already. I received 10% off my purchase at World of Disney at Disney Springs, which at the time I was not expecting. I've also received discounts at many table-service dining locations around the parks and resorts. Just make sure to let your server know that you are paying with your Disney Visa Card.

I hope you have a magical stay next year, Matthew! Stop back and see us again at planDisney!

    See ya real soon!
