I just received my MNSSHP tickets and it mentions a "Not so Scary family style buffet" at the Liberty Tree Tavern. Now I know they no longer do character meals normally but is this something special or is it just open late because of the party?

Hi Ellen, congratulations on your tickets! Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is one of my absolute favorite events at Walt Disney World. It ties for Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party...it's so hard for me to pick which I like better!

As you mentioned, the Liberty Tree Tavern has stopped doing character dining, but still offers the great New England style buffet they are famous for during the event. It is actually the only table service location open during the event, so if your family prefers that to counter service locations in the Magic Kingdom, be sure to book your Advanced Dining Reservation early. AJ from the DisneyFoodBlog.com recommends booking early at around 5pm, so you aren't wasting the party time inside a restaurant rather than enjoying the special events available only to ticket holders. I thought that was a great idea!

Wherever your family chooses to dine that evening, I hope you have a wonderful time. Be sure to wave to the gravediggers for me in the Boo-to-You parade!
