Hi Courtney,
Welcome to planDisney! Your amazing Walt Disney World vacation will be here before you know it, so I'm glad you reached out with your question. Let me do my best to help.
Like you, I have a different last name than the other members of my household. (I kept my name when my husband and I got married almost 40 years ago.) And, like you, the mail we receive about our Walt Disney World annual passes and resort reservations comes addressed using my last name as our household name.
I believe this is because I am always the lead planner for our vacations, the one who makes the reservations and manages our profiles in our
My Disney Experience account. Having my name as our household name has never caused any issues for us.
And I can tell you that when we check into our resort at Walt Disney World or board a Disney Cruise Line ship, the welcome screen in our room always greets us with both our last names, i.e. Welcome My Name His Name Family.
Knowing my experience may ease your concerns. If not, I'd suggest
giving a call to a cast member at the Walt Disney World Non-Reservation Support line to see if a change can be made to your household's preferences without impacting your profile. Or this might be an issue best addressed in person at a
Guest Relations location once you are at Walt Disney World.
I hope that's helpful, Courtney. Your vacation begins just as Walt Disney World kicks off its official
holiday festivities, so you will have even more magic to explore during your visit. Please let us know if you have any other questions.
Enjoy!
Wilma
