Hi - how can I receive confirmation that our old magic bands (which are still active but from a Disney trip 1.5 years ago) are automatically connected to our future disney trip tickets?

Hey, howdy, hey, Cristina, and welcome to planDisney. MagicBands are the greatest piece of technology that Mickey and his apprentices have created. Your question is one that comes up all the time because people get attached to their MagicBands.

The quick answer is probably. Here is how to check if it is still active. Open your My Disney Experience account on your computer browser. In the upper right hover over the circle Mickey and select the drop-down "My MagicBands and Cards." Go to the bottom of the screen and find the MagicBand user name (and the number of bands linked to the account). Click on the name. A new drawer will open with all the MagicBands linked to that account. You will see buttons to "Activate/Deactive" or "Report Lost." If your MagicBand shows an "Active" next to it then you are linked. But will it still work is the next question? Read more for those details.

To check if your MagicBand battery is still working you need a touchpoint. That touchpoint could be at your Disney Resorts Collection hotel when you visit the front desk, your Disney Resort Hotel room door with Online Check-In, at the Disney Ticket Center at Disney Springs, at a ticket window outside any theme park, or at the actual theme park entrance. Batteries usually last 24 months but I was speaking with another Guest on my last trip and due to his infrequent use of his MagicBand it has lasted an incredible nine years. Also once a MagicBand is linked to your My Disney Experience account it is forever there unless you deactivate it but remember you may always reactivate it.

planDisney Pro Tip: If your MagicBand battery is out of energy then you can always use the hard plastic Key to the World card, buy a new MagicBand or MagicBand+, or create a Disney MagicMobile Pass on your phone or smartwatch.

Cristina, thank you again for stopping by, and feel free to write me back with any additional questions to help make your August Disney adventure more enchanted.

    Enjoy making many Magical Memories.
