Hey Howdy Hey Paulette and welcome to planDisney!
Many trips to the Walt Disney World Resort involve months if not years of planning. So many dreams and expectations ride with these plans and it is hard to imagine the "what ifs" such as a rainy day or illness putting a damper on your plans. While Disney does have some policies in place to help plan for such scenarios, it is helpful to know what options you have in just these cases. You've got a friend in me Paulette to help you through the "what if" that prevents you from attending the theme park on your current planned visit.
When purchasing
tickets to visit any of the Disney Theme Parks, you need to select which park to visit and the date you want to visit. Depending on the number of days, you will have a varying
validation period. With a 1-day ticket, you have that day only to use your ticket at the park you purchased. In the event you are unable to use your ticket, Disney does have some leeway to help.
In most cases, Disney will recognize the amount that was paid for an unused theme park ticket and apply the amount to the purchase of a new ticket. Considering the tickets are date-based, the pricing will vary from park to park and from day to day. You will be responsible for the difference in the cost but as long as you change within the same week, the cost should be minimal.
Calling Disney or visiting a ticket window would be the way to go if this scenario comes up.
I hope your trip to Walt Disney World later this year goes off without a hitch and you are able to visit the Most Magical Place on Earth for your perfect day. If you have any other questions, please feel free to reach back out and let us know, we are always happy to help.
To Infinity and Beyond,
Nick
