Welcome to planDisney, Lisa. I was thrilled to see your question as, although I am a little biased living in Britain, I feel Afternoon Tea is one of life's greatest pleasures! It always feels like such an elegant, delicious treat! When you add the delightful atmosphere of the
Grand Floridian's Garden View Tea Room, well, that experience is practically perfect in every way!
I do wish I was bringing you more solid news on a return date, but right now, there is no confirmed reopening date for the Garden View Tea Room. All is not lost, Lisa. I have a few suggestions as a lady who loves a cuppa!
The Tea Caddy offers the same Twinings tea selection in EPCOT should you wish to make your own brew. If you'd prefer not to play Mrs Potts, and have some help with the bubbling and brewing,
Citricos Lounge offers divine treats such as Blackberry Tartlettes within an elegant setting inspired by Mary Poppins. You could also sample one of the delightful cocktails available.
Another option that may be up and running by your trip next year is The Cake Bake Shop Bakery at Disney's Boardwalk. Work is still ongoing, but I've heard fabulous things about its tea service at the existing Indiana location. A great place to keep up to date with the latest Afternoon Tea (and other) developments at Walt Disney World is on
Disney Parks Blog.
Here in the U.K., there's an ongoing, friendly debate, and I wonder which side you're on. Jam first (raspberry for me) or cream (must be clotted) first on scones?
Lisa, I hope you get to while away an afternoon in the best possible way at Walt Disney World with a medley of finger sandwiches, scones, and a hot pot of tea. I'd love to help with any further questions, spit-spot, so please pop back if need be, Louise.
