I really LOVE this site!! Thank you all for helpful tips & advice. I love hearing about the unknown intricacies of WDW. What are some that my family can experience at MK? I just read something about Tom Sawyer's paint brush, what are some others?

    Hi Cara!
It is cool how there are so many "intricacies" to the most Magical place on Earth. Everything has a story. That said, your family may be interested in one of the many "behind-the scenes" tours offered at Magic Kingdom, where they can hear the real scoop on so many of the traditions, rumors, or reasons for waht goes on at Magic Kingdom. Or they may simply want to try one fo the everyday experiences that guests like. I name two below:
There is a great tradition that many families pride themselves on participating in...and that is searching for Hidden Mickeys. There are so many of them, in fact, that there has been hugely successful book published. Hidden Mickeys, by Steve Barrett, is a great resource for finding some of these...unless you want to try on your own first. Hidden MIckeys are little Mickey-shaped icons that are blended into everything from curtains to ride entrances by Imagineers when creating a resort, attraction, or new building. There is an unofficial amount because nobody ever wants to confirm how many there really are...then again, nobody probably even knows. It is a blast! And most of the time, you'll know when you've spotted one. For ones where you're not sure, or want help, Steve's book is perfect.
Also, over near the new, Tangled-themed restroom area, hidden amongst the foliage, rockwork and water, there are several "hidden" Pascals...Rapunzels most trusted little chameleon friend. It would be fun looking for these two. Pssst...I heard there were 18, but who really knows?
I hope these few suggestions get you headed in the right direction and I wish you a Magical trip!! :)
