I really don't have a choice put to come to Disneyworld in the summer, I have a child in school. How bad is it really? Our kids will be 5 and 2 1/2. We may be able to swing for early June or late August but is it worth it? This is our very first trip!

    Hi Maggie!

I have chosen not to pull my children out of school for family vacations, and consequently, have enjoyed most of our Walt Disney World visits during the summer months.  I won't lie, it's generally very warm.  However, the heat has never had a negative impact on our vacations at Disney.  During the summer months, our strategy is to visit the parks early in the morning and in the evenings, when the sun is not at its strongest.  We make use of Extra Morning and Evening Magic Hours wherever possible.  This is also a great tip for avoiding crowds, as the afternoons tend to have the largest crowds in my experience.  We "sandwich" a trip to our resort pool, lunch in an air-conditioned venue, or simply a rest in between our visits.  My boys also love the Disney water parks, which are fantastic during the summer.  I'm not a big fan of cold water!  It's almost impossible to be hot when you are soaking wet!

If your family's schedule allows for a trip during the summer, by all means go for it.  You are sure to have a magical time!
