Hi, I really appreciate your help! We want to do a fireworks cruise and was wondering which one is better, Wishes or Illuminations? We also planned on having some food aboard. We have also seen both shows several times but never on the water. Thanks!

Hi Keirsten!  I have done both the Wishes and Illuminations fireworks cruises and although they are both awesome and worth doing my favorite remains the Illuminations one.  This can be argued both ways but I will share my thoughts so you can decide what is more important for you when making your decision!

The reason I like Illuminations is because you get so close you actually can feel the heat from the fire in the middle of the lake....not dangerously close but you definitely feel a part of the show.  Illuminations is my favorite fireworks and laser show at Disney with its beautiful music.  I enjoy the quiet ride down from the Yacht and Beach marina to the entrance of Hollywood Studios to see how beautiful that park is lit up at night.  On the return you will pass  Boardwalk and head to your parked position under the bridge at the International Gateway entrance to EPCOT.  You have an unobstructed view and the only negative can be if the wind is blowing in your direction as that means you might get some firework residue.

The Wishes fireworks cruises are wonderful as well but you don't get close like Illuminations.  I found that because you are not docked the boats have a tendency to move around and you are constantly turning yourself to keep looking at the action.   Cruising Bay Lake and Seven Seas Lagoon offers you more water space to enjoy if this is the part of the trip that is most important to you.  The castle at night with the fireworks is a beautiful sight to see but it is one you could enjoy from the Polynesian beach instead!

We often order food and extra drinks for the cruises from pirvate dining.  In the past we have ordered cakes, strawberries, and champagne.  Chips and drinks are part of the cruise package so be aware  of that before ordering extra.

Enjoy whatever one you choose.....in my eyes you can't go wrong with either one and what you do this trip perhaps you can enjoy the other one on your next Disney vacation!
