Very Merry Greetings, Desiree!
Welcome to planDisney, and thank you so much for stopping by with your question. How exciting that you are visiting Walt Disney World during the jolliest time of the year. I love visiting Disney during the holidays because not only is it the most magical time of year, but you also get to see the big cheese (and I don't mean just Mickey)! Santa Claus and storytellers from around the world visit the parks, and it is the merriest place on earth indeed.
Desiree,
Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party is indeed a separate ticketed event. However, if the tickets are sold out, here's what I recommend. Stop by Magic Kingdom Park on the day of the party and see if they have any same-day tickets available. It's not a guarantee, but often they do have tickets available that you can purchase. My recommendation would be to stop by the Magic Kingdom ticket window or Guest Services in the park as early in the day as possible to inquire if they have tickets available that day. This will be your best chance to get one if it's possible.
Last year, I was able to get a ticket to Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party at the ticket window in the evening, right before the event started. So, it is possible, but it just depends on the day and ticket availability. While I was pixie-dusted with a last-minute ticket, checking earlier in the day gives you a better chance to secure a ticket should there be any available.
Now, if it is not available during your stay, you will get to see the parks dressed in their jolliest holiday overlays. There will be the daily parades, shows, and evening spectaculars when scheduled, or on the days when there isn't a special event in Magic Kingdom, and you can check the
daily calendar to know if and when they will be showing. These are always subject to change; however, it will give you a good idea of the schedule during your visit.
I highly recommend visiting
EPCOT's International Festival of the Holidays during your visit. There will be regularly scheduled visits of the holiday storytellers from around the world (my personal favorite), a cookie stroll, holiday music, and more!
I hope this helps you, Desiree, and you enjoy the most wonderful time of the year at the most magical place on earth. If you have any further questions, soar back here to see me, and I'll be so happy to help you.
Magically Yours,
Keri
