Is it realistic to think we can ride Splash Mountain in January? It is a family favorite and I would hate to miss it, but want to be realistic in my expectations. Drawn to the idea of low crowds in Jan, and my 30th bday at this time, but worried about cold

    Hi Gayle,

Typically Splash Mountain is open year-round in the Magic Kingdom so you can ride it in January.  I have ridden it in December so I imagine the experience would be similar in January.  I understand your concern, though, about the temperature being too low to enjoy the ride.  As you no doubt already know, when you ride Splash Mountain the possibility of getting wet is very real.  While that may be delightful in August, it may not be as enjoyable in January.  Wet clothes and cold breezes are not one of my favorite combinations!  One trick I have witnessed other families employ to stay dry on this ride is to don rain ponchos right before boarding the ride.  While it doesn't guarantee you will walk away completely dry, it seems like an effective strategy for decreasing the chance of getting totally soaked.  Give it a try!

Have fun and happy 30th birthday from the Moms Panel!
