Welcome to planDisney, Kathy!
Can you believe that you're just a month away from arriving at
Walt Disney World Resort?! You must be getting so excited! Since your visit begins in just a few weeks, now is the perfect time to finalize any last-minute details on your planning to-do list, including checking to see that you've made your theme park reservations using the
Disney Park Pass reservation system. Remember that you'll need a Disney Park Pass reservation, along with valid theme park admission, for the first park you plan to visit each day. During the busy summer months, reservations have been filling up quickly, so I recommend making them as soon as possible –– that way you'll all set to visit your choice of Walt Disney World theme parks once you arrive next month.
These last few weeks are also a great time to start thinking about your
Disney Genie+ Lightning Lane selections for your visit, too. Even though you won't be able to make those selections until the morning of your visit, I'm glad to hear you're already thinking through the process of making your selection –– Lighting Lane times can go quickly, especially for the most popular attractions at each park, and this way you'll be ready to go when the clock strikes 7 AM. To do this, you'll want to make sure you've downloaded the latest version of the
My Disney Experience mobile app on a mobile device (Lighting Lane selections can't be made through the Walt Disney World website on a laptop). Once you've done that, here's what you'll need to do to make your selections:
1. Sign in to the My Disney Experience app using your Disney Account credentials.
2. Tap on the three lines in the bottom-right corner and select "Tip Board" from the menu.
3. You'll see one of the four theme parks pop up on the page. If you're planning to visit a different park that day, tap "Change Park" to make a new selection.
4. As you scroll down the page, you'll see each theme park attraction listed, as well as the current wait time for their Standby Line, as well as their current Lighting Lane time listed under "LL Disney Genie+" (where applicable). When it's time to make your first selection, tap "Book Experience" under your attraction of choice and follow the onscreen prompts to finalize your choice.
Remember that you'll be able to book your next Lightning Lane once you've redeemed your first selection or after two hours, whichever comes first. After that, you'll be able to continue making selections using that same timeframe for the rest of the day. To make sure that you don't get caught up in all the magic around you and forget to make your next pick (although, who could blame you?), I recommend setting a two-hour timer on your phone each time you make a new selection. That way, you don't have to worry about constantly checking the time. Also, keep in mind that if you're park hopping, you'll be able to make Lightning Lane selections at more than one park –– all you need to do is tap "Change park" at the top of the page to book Lightning Lanes at your next location.
Thanks for bringing your question to planDisney, Kathy. I hope your upcoming visit to Walt Disney World Resort is filled with the phenomenal cosmic power of Genie+ and plenty of magical adventures from start to finish!
See Ya Real Soon,
Amy
