Ahoy, Kerry-Anne!
With all the fun happening around the ship on a Disney Cruise, it can be difficult to keep up with your sailing party! We have two girls - one teen and one tween, that love to hang out at the Youth Clubs and also explore the ship. Keeping tabs on them is important to us, and can also be a challenge. The good news is, Disney Cruise Line provides guests with two options to help you keep up with your group!
First, each stateroom will have two "Wave Phones" provided at no charge. They work like cell phones on the ship! Additional phones can be rented for a minimal fee if needed. The phones work most everywhere on the ship, and also on Disney's private island,
Castaway Cay. The phones will not be operational in other ports, however. Wave Phones can send and receive text messages from other Wave Phones. They will be used to contact parents with children visiting the Youth Clubs, if a Youth Counselor needs to reach them for any reason.
The other option is to use the Disney Cruise Line Navigator App, available for smartphone devices. The Navigator app has messaging capabilities, so you can stay connected with friends and family onboard. The app, available for Apple and Android smartphones, is free to download and use. The app also features dining and entertainment information, maps of the ships and Castaway Cay, Youth Club info, Character Greeting times and locations, and more. There's even a fun Disney Cruise countdown calendar! You can find out lots more information about the Navigator App
here.
I hope this helps! Have a magical day! - Diane W.
