Hi, Amy!
Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, and thanks for your great question! The
Jedi Training Academy selection procedure at the Disneyland Resort does work differently than at Walt Disney World Resort. At Disneyland Park there is no sign-up process, and 25 to 30 young Padawan trainees are randomly chosen from the audience immediately prior to the show, which is a 25-minute session at Tomorrowland Terrace. Although being chosen to participate is never guaranteed, your son may have a better chance of being selected as one of the lucky participants if he stands out from the crowd as one of the more excited candidates. It may help if he is wearing some sort of Star Wars-themed apparel, like a t-shirt or even a Jedi Robe if he has one. I have also heard of kids holding homemade signs with sayings like “Pick Me” and “The Force is with Me” to increase their chances of pulled from the audience to participate in the show.
While there are no guarantees, arriving early (at least 15 to 20 minutes prior to show time) and snagging a spot in the roped-off area on the lower level below the stage is very important. The Jedi Master is sure to be on the lookout for especially enthusiastic recruits between the ages of 4 and 12 who are eager to learn and jumping up and down with excitement!
I hope this helps, Amy, and that your family enjoys a perfectly pixie-dusted visit to the Disneyland Resort! Please write back with any other questions you may have as your planning continues.
Wishing you magic,
Courtney
