I read that you could stay at fort wilderness long term. How does that work and can you rent a RV or do you need to have your own? Also how much would it cost to stay long term?

Hi Terese! Fort Wilderness is one of our favorite places to stay while at Walt Disney World. We have our own motor coach and love to bring our four legged family members with us and this is the only way you can do that at Disney.

Reservations at Fort Wilderness can only be for a total of 30 days. However, you could make another reservation to follow the first initial one. Occasionally you can get a small discount for long term stays but it is not guaranteed and certainly during the holidays the cost for a nights stay will be the highest.  We often use a AAA discount and look for bounce back offers for the time we plan a visit. It can get a little complicated trying to work it all out when we have a long stay planned but it is worth it in the end. It is impossible to give you an approximate quote for pricing since weekends are higher and certain times of year are higher in cost as well.

Disney does not offer camping vehicles for rent. All guests must bring their own camper, fifth wheel, trailer, or bus.  There are places around the country that do rent vehicles.  Camping World in Orlando will usually have certain vehicles available for rent but I am not sure if they are supplied with all you would need such as dishes and linens etc.  If you are not familiar with RV camping and the vehicles then I would suggest you consider one of the cabins at Fort Wilderness. They are wonderful and individually spaced in several loops. They come complete with anything you would need for a nice vacation and their full size kitchens are great for keeping food costs down during the vacation. On a side note, they do not allow pets.

Let me know if you have any other Fort Wilderness questions as I would love to help you plan your vacation.
