I read somewhere that only certain plans are available for sale. Why can't I pick the resort I want to buy at then? Would I be able to "piggy back" on my brother's membership? Is the vacation club worth it for a single person about to turn 50

    Hello, Diane!

    You've asked great questions here!

You can purchase a real estate interest at any of the Disney Vacation Club Resorts.  Call Disney Vacation Club directly at 877-382-7826 for pricing and details.

Regarding your brother's membership, in order to combine the benefits of family members' separate Disney Vacation Club Memberships, some members, if they'd like to travel together, book accommodations together, using points from one Member for certain nights and points from another Member for the additional nights. If, however, they would like to be able to have access to the use of each other's Membership, in times where additional points would be helpful, then each family member would be able to make a reservation using his or her own points, on behalf of the person traveling.  In both cases, the reservations can be linked together in the system, so that the front desk realizes that these are not two different parties.

I'd say that joining Disney Vacation Club would make a wonderful 50th birthday present for yourself!  (And congratulations on your upcoming big day!)  To be practical, ask yourself how much traveling you'd like to do in the upcoming years.  For us, we calculated how much money we'd be spending in the next ten years on travel.  Then, we calculated what Disney Vacation Club Membership would cost over that same ten-year period, and quickly realized that we'd be able to travel more often, and in more luxurious and exotic fashion, if we spent those same dollars on the DVC Membership.  While your case may be different from ours, we've just really enjoyed the opportunity to travel to DVC resorts, sail on Disney Cruise Line and explore our international options offered to Members through exchange programs.

I hope that you found this helpful!  Please send me any additional questions you may have as you decide if membership in Disney Vacation Club is right for you!
