I read somewhere about before Buzz and Woody come out there is a little parade of the other toys and the ask some kids to come interact with them-- does anyone have any more info about this? Time and location?

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel Cathy ~

I am not aware of a current parade of that type.  There used to be a parade at Disney's Hollywood Studios called Pixar Pals Countdown to Fun that included lots of Pixar characters including Buzz and Woody.  Before that, they had the Block Party Bash that included Buzz and Woody and kids were invited to dance along for part of it.  Both of those have now been retired.

Currently at the Magic Kingdom, they have the Move It! Shake It! Celebrate It! Street Party.  It is like a parade and dance party combined where they invite you to dance in the street with characters to celebrate your special occasion.  Woody and Jessie are part of the celebration but Buzz doesn't currently appear with them. The Move It! Shake It! Celebrate It! Street Party is usually held a few times a day in the hub in front of Cinderella Castle.

You can find the entertainment schedule for the day of your visit on the link shown above or by picking up a Times Guide when you enter the Magic Kingdom. They are also available at most merchandise locations and Guest Relations. You can also find entertainment schedules by downloading the My Disney Experience Mobile App. This app is free and available for both iPhones and Androids.
