I just read that the D23 Scavenger Hunt will be held on May 12th/13th (and Destination D is May 14th/15th) - right in the middle of our vacation! Do you think the parks will be super-crowded during those days, and how do you suggest we plan around it?

    Hi Donna!

I am a proud D23 member and I can not wait for Destination D in Walt Disney World in May of 2011.  The D23 Scavenger Hunt will take place in Thursday and Friday (May 12th and 13th) and it will be a few thousand people in teams of 2 to 4 people spread out over the four theme parks of Walt Disney World.  The teams will looking for information and answers in two Parks a day for 3 to 4 hours in each Park on those days.  The scavenger hunt teams will be mainly looking for clues not riding rides (they may ride a ride occasionally to look for answers to a question).  Each of the Parks of Walt DIsney World are set up to handle tens of thousands of guests per day so I do not think that you will even notice the scavenger hunt teams as far as increased crowd levels.  Then on Saturday and Sunday (May 4th and 15th) the Destination D Event takes place at the Contemporary Resort.  So basically everyone attending this event will be in meetings all day at the Contemporary Resort instead of in the Parks so there will be no impact to crowd levels with the Parks.  I would recommend that you plan like you usually do for your Walt Disney World vacations and remember to have the time of your life!

I hope that your next Walt Disney World vacation is simply magical!

    Keep Dreaming Big!
