Hello! I've read many of your responses & got super info for taking our 5 mth old to Disney. This is our first baby! Is there anything specific you recommend for us besides the baby centers for making this a magical experience for us all?

    Hi Rachel,

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel and thank you for asking us a question about one of my favourite subjects: bringing a baby to Walt Disney World Resort! You may have read several of my responses about how much I loved our first trip with our little guy when he was 5 1/2 months old… While travelling with infants can have its challenges, I find that a visit to Walt Disney World Resort is probably one of the best trips you can take with a baby.

First, I recommend "baby wearing" (i.e. using a baby carrier or a wrap/sling). After a day or two of trying to wrangle our stroller and bucket, I started wearing my little guy and it was so much easier. If you do want to use a stroller, I don’t find that the ones for rent in Walt Disney World Resort Theme Parks are great for babies. I would recommend going with an authorized Disney Service provider such as Kingdom Strollers if you don’t plan to bring your stroller from home.

Because I like to travel light, if I don’t rent a car for my visit to Walt Disney World Resort (which, I’ll admit, I’ve done for almost every trip with our little guy because I find it easier to drive than to deal with bus transportation at night), I usually have baby/toddler gear delivered straight to my resort either via Garden Grocer or even amazon.com.

Finally, I STRONGLY recommend heading back to your Walt Disney World Resort Hotel for a nap time/pool break in the middle of the day. What surprised me was how much he loved the fireworks during his first visit. Because of that, I “shifted” his schedule over so that his afternoon nap took place later in the day. This allowed him to stay up and clap his pudgy little hands with delight during the nightly fireworks displays at most of the Theme Parks.

    Have a Magical Day,

    Lynne
