I read they are going to put barcodes on the resort mugs. Has that started already? Not staying on property but want to purchase a mug, it's a tradition. If there is a barcode how long will it be good for? I will be visiting for 7 days.

    Hey Patty,

The Refillable Mug debate goes on. The rule is that the mug is supposed to be used for that visit only. Time and again, guests dig out the mugs and bring them back to use on subsequent visits. Guests also refill them again and again to have a large amount of beverage in another container. So, Walt Disney World is trying to regulate the rules that have been widely ignored for years. The mug barcode is in experimental stages at one of the All Star Resorts only. There is supposed to be a restriction that you cannot re-fill until 5 minutes has lapsed. The mug is supposed to be used for the duration of your visit only.It will de-activate after so many days. You will not be able to bring the mug back next year and use it. Patty, I'm not sure how fast the implementation of this program will progress. I would say just be ready for the change, and don't hesitate to get your souvenir cup. Keep the great questions coming, Patty!!
