Hello Tiffany! Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel.
You have a solid understanding of
the ins and outs of MagicBands at Walt Disney World Resort based on your inquiry, but allow me to offer an explanation and some suggestion.
Making purchases using a MagicBand does not link directly to the credit card company that may be affiliated with said MagicBand but the Walt Disney World Resort hotel room or suite that is connected to it. When you use your MagicBand to make a purchase, you are charging it to your room, which (along with room charges, etc.) is eventually charged to your credit card. Using your MagciBand in this manner is for convenience and control, as any purchases made can be discussed with Guest Services at your Walt Disney World Resort hotel and listed on your room charges instead of dealing with your credit card company directly for every single charge until the full charge from the resort is processed.
While policies like these can change at any time, I have heard no plans that suggest this policy will be changing in the near future.
As an alternative to using my MagicBand for convenience with purchases, I put money onto Disney Gift Cards and
use them whenever I pay for merchandise or dining.
Even without the convenience as an alternative credit card, my family wears our MagicBands wherever we go in Walt Disney World Resort to hold our ticket information and
FastPass+ Selections, as well as to scan for any instances where we get a Disney PhotoPass Photographer to take our picture to easily link it to our
My Disney Experience App. Have a Magical Vacation!
