I've read posts about purchasing groceries at the resort versus using gardengrocer or the like. We are staying at the Wilderness Lodge. Where is the nearest small grocery/convenience store to purchase milk etc or should we deliver some minor items? Thx!

    Julie:

If you don't find what you want in the sundries shop at the lodge, you have a couple of choices.

You can either take the boat launch from Wilderness Lodge to Fort Wilderness and walk about 50 feet from the pier to the Settlement Trading Post for a nice selection of grocery items.  Or you walk about 100 yards to the bus stop behind Fort Wilderness's Pioneer Hall and take the internal Orange Bus to The Meadows Trading Post which has a larger selection of groceries, in my opinon, than the Settlement's.

Or if you have a car, the nearest grocery stores by car:

    Wal-Mart off of SRS 535
    3250 Vineland Road, Kissimmee, FL

Publix at the Hwy 192 exit off of SR 429.
14928 E Orange Lake Blvd, Kissimmee, FL 34747-8210.

More than likely, you'll be able to find all that you'd want at the Settlement Trading Post.  Just keep in mind it's like visiting a convenience store.  Once you've got your groceries, you can take the boat launch back to Wilderness Lodge (the boat will stop at The Contemporary Hotel first on the ride back).

    Wishing y'all a magical vacation!

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
