I read that New Years is the busiest day of the year and the parks fill up. What about the days following? Do we have to worry about crowds from say Janauary 4th on?

Hi Susie! Early January is generally a slower time in the parks. Once the New Years crowds depart the resorts and parks will be much less crowded. This is true until the Disney marathon race days begin.

Each year Disney hosts a big marathon and other race weekend. This year things will start up on January 6 with the EXPO and continue through the 9th with the actual marathon race. You can click HERE to read about this event and to see the timing for the various activities.  This will bring more crowds into the parks for these few days and will also change some traffic patterns during the races.  Not everyone who comes will want to be in the parks but often family members come along and play while the racers work!

There is an impact but it is hard to gauge how much will affect park attendance during these days.  For many it is the simple inconvenience of trying to get around that discourages them from the dates.  However, if you are taking Disney transportation they will assure you that you will arrive to your destination since they will know the best routes that will accommodate them.
