Hi Jaynee,
Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, and thank you for your question. On my recent visit to Walt Disney World, I noticed the Digital Key option in the My Disney Experience app, though it wasn’t quite ready yet at the resort I was visiting. I must admit, I am intrigued and cannot wait to try it out on my next trip; I love all the conveniences that “automagically” happen in the parks and resorts!
Hakuna Matata, Jaynee! It means no worries, because your
MagicBand will remain an option for opening your resort room door, along with its other magical features. The
Digital Key feature just gives you one more option for accessing your resort room, as well as other common areas that may be access-controlled, such as pools, fitness centers, and laundry rooms. There’s a
great video outlining the feature and its uses on this Disney Parks Blog post. As someone who has been locked out of my room without my MagicBand (don’t ask), I know I’m thrilled for the backup.
Speaking of new technology, have you heard about the new
Play Disney Parks app? My family had a blast playing the in-queue games while at Walt Disney World, and today I listened to the Magic Kingdom Park music playlist all afternoon. I am loving all the digital pixie dust we're seeing in "the world of yesterday, tomorrow, and fantasy."
Wishing you a magical vacation,
Robyn
