I have read mixed reviews on Les Chefs de France & would love to have your opinion since we are trying to decide between that & Kona Cafe (we are staying at Polynesian) for our first night dinner.

Hi Patsy! You have mentioned two of my very favorite Walt Disney World Restaurants and you can't go wrong with either choice!

I absolutely LOVE Les Chefs de France and have never had a bad experience in the many times I have eaten there.  The service has always been prompt and I have found the food to be delicious and priced very reasonably.  My favorite dish is the Gratin de Macaroni, but I have also tried several other entrees as well and have always been pleased!  They also offer a 3-course Prix Fixe option on the dinner menu which gives you the opportunity to try several of the restaurant's most popular plates.

With that being said, If it were me, I would eat at Kona the first night since you are staying at the Polynesian.  Kona offers a laid back atmosphere with great food and fabulous prices.  My favorite here is the Asian Noodle Bowl and the Banana Creme Brûlée dessert is to die for!

Eating at Kona will allow you to settle in to relax and explore the Polynesian after you arrive without having to race over to Epcot to make a dinner reservation on your first night.  If you time your dinner right, you'll be able to grab a hammock on the Polynesian Beach right afterwards, to watch Wishes Nighttime Spectacular light up the skies over the Magic Kingdom.  You'll even be able to hear the music from this incredible fireworks show as it is piped into the pool and beach areas at the Polynesian!  My family has a tradition of watching Wishes from outside of the parks on our first night and the Polynesian beach offers an unmatched vantage point!  It's a magical way to reflect upon the adventures that await on your upcoming days at Walt Disney World!

You have chosen two fine places to dine, and I can confidently say that you will be happy no matter which option you choose!  Here's wishing you a magical (and tasty) visit to Walt Disney World!
