Read a great idea from one of your posts. Want to send bags on ME & take a taxi to airport to allow a little more park time. Will be at MK day of departure. If flight leaves MCO at 3:05pm what time shohuld we leave & how much should we expect for c

    This is what we did...

We used the resort luggage check-in service at our hotel first thing in the morning. You can check in you bags any time on the day of your flight that the desk is open, which for us was before breakfast. Then we were only left with our carry-on backpacks. Hubby had also gotten our boarding passes printed at the hotel's guest relations desk the night before our flight.

Then we headed over to the Animal Kingdom. We stashed the backpack that we would not need in the park in a locker. (I would check out the size of the Disney lockers earlier in your trip -- they're not that big -- so that if you want to do this, your stuff will fit.) We had a great day of touring. At the end, we retrieved the backpack from the locker and we were on our way. We were able to get a cab to the airport directly from the theme park because we did not have to go back to the hotel to get any bags.

A cab ride from WDW to Orlando International takes 30-35 minutes. I'd feel comfortable leaving the park about two hours before flight time taking a taxi -- especially since you have no luggage and already have boarding passes on hand.  If you were to take the Magical Express bus, it would pick you up at your resort 3 hours before your flight time, plus you'd have to figure in the time it would take for you to get from the park you're touring get back to the hotel.

One other thing, since you'll be touring the Magic Kingdom on the day of your departure, you should know that you cannot get a cab at the Magic Kingdom. You'll have to first take the monorail to the Ticket and Transportation Center. Cabs will be available here. Because of this step, you might want to leave 10 minutes earlier from the MK than from one of the other parks.

Overall, I feel using the resort luggage check-in and taking a taxi directly from the park got us two extra hours of park time. A taxi from WDW to the airport costs in the neighborhood of $60 depending on where you leave from, how much you tip, etc.
