    I have read that gratuties are added to table of 6 or more. Can you make 2 different dining reservations at the same resturant and just ask to sit next to on another.

    You can always take a chance that you make 2 separate reservations and hope to be seated close by one another, although I wouldn't count on that happening.  The restaurants do get very busy at WDW and it is not often that special requests like this could be handled, and if they understood that you were all together and were able to put you all at one table (even if you had 2 separate reservations), once a special exception like this is made then you would still be considered to be a group of 6 or more guests.  If it doesn't really matter how close you are to each other, then yes! you can certainly make 2 separate reservations.
